It’s getting chilly here in Macau. It was around 25-21 ºC during the week but today its 21-15 ºC. Brrrr. At least that means I can bring in the heavy weight winter clothes, but that sadly leaves me unable to wear hoodies to often again.
Today we celebrated my grandmother’s birthday by having a family lunch at Star World. It was at a fancy all you can eat dim sum restaurant. All my grandmother’s daughters and sons showed up to celebrate. My over-punctual aunt was calling everyone to get there, when she herself wasn’t there herself! She even researched what food she wanted the night before and ticked it out on a menu she had acquired. She even brought a pencil and eraser there -,-. Despite her constant nagging we had a good meal, chatting and eating ourselves silly. My aunt has a tendency to over order at these type of restaurants, just to make sure its worth the expense.
Later that day in the afternoon Joel and Nicole came over. We met up with even more people and picked up the pizzas. My friend Joel was having his sweet sixteen party and we needed to make sure he was well stocked :).
Joel’s birthday hit the ground running. When we got there a dizzying amount of food had already been laid out for us. We surprised Joel with a pair of Jordan’s, hidden in a cheap reebok box. His face was priceless XD. As everyone gathered around the television to watched Megamind, a friend and I had a little eating competition.
We both had to eat the same amount of food, each taking turns to decide what to eat. We were evenly matched. We were at round 7 and continued eating as we were leaving the house for some shesha.
Shesha is always really chill. We sit around smoking a bit, take photos and have a good chat. Afterwards we wandered towards the Macau Science Museum taking countless photos on the way. We then walked all the way home through the rain.
When we got home, we played some street fighter. All of us being rather inexperienced the game quickly became a button mashing battle. I choose my favorite out of a bizarre range of characters…a bear.
Then the moment in the night I had been dreading. We were going to watch the horror movie Sinister. I spent most of the movie head down, listening to the eerie and frighting sound track. My friend John, who had been de-sensitized to this type of things at a young age told me what was happening. I always feel so feminine and helpless in these situations.
The rest of the early morning was spent watching funny videos on youtube to counter act the horror and chat rouletee which is always fun.
Slowly everyone drifted off to sleep. No one said anything. A heavy veil was just drew over us and we all feel asleep. We awoke at noon. Everyone was inflicted with a condition I like to call Sleep Over Hang Over.
