Sit back and grab a drink. This one is gonna be a long one…
The day started off slowly. We all were in the room getting ready for the anniversary ceremony. All the teachers were really well dressed and most of the students found a way to get a tie.
The school anniversary was important, but a boring necessity Everyone sits down quietly and formally. The school band plays the same cheesy song over and over and the guests slowly are introduced. Some students, the principal and the archbishop of Hong Kong all made reminiscent speeches. At least we had some dance performances from the lower grades and one “rock” performance. At the end we went to the sixth floor for a commemorative plaque, celebrating the opening of the additional floor built at our school. We where then allowed to leave school early. And that is where the fun begins…
Today we had a ceremony for our achievements in IGCSE. Everyone was crammed into the hall and called up one by one. We were suppose to have it last year, but things delayed it and it was moved to this year. Better late then never right? This theme plays a role later in the day.
Not to be boastful but I am a pretty good student. I got all A’s for my IGCSE and received a distinction award in the ICE category. To my surprise I was not called for the principal honor role, the requirement of which is for an aggregate of 85%. I tried to feel happy for my fellow students and not feel to let down but the feeling persisted. I kept contemplating if I had worked harder, or if there was so conspiracy behind it. I calculated my averages again and it always came up above 85% no matter how you do it. So I went to the management to have it checked out.
Turns out that they had deleted me off the list by accident. I was one of the top scoring students. It was hard for me to be more angry than relieved though. Later in the day I received my trophy and certificate.
Better late then never
Well. That didn’t last long. “Save money William.” That’s what I told myself. Such a First World Problem. I saw the advert and for T3 in my PC Format magazine, and today, when given have a chance to buy it, I scooped it up without nothing but a slight hesitation. Then later in the day I had a snacking spree with my friend Marilda. Now I’m a hundred Mop (12.5 USD) poorer. At least the food was good, and T3 is interesting. My first issue will allow me to evaluate if I want anymore in the future.
I then visited my grandmas. I taught my grandpa how to download apps for his phone, and had some traditional flower tea at my grandmas. I then went to get my new glasses. Putting them on is like seeing the world in HD. Everything had more cooler, looked sharper and seemed more distinct. I also kept my lenses with the spare hinges to act as sport glasses.
Afterwards I went home and my time just disappeared. I had no homework, and not much lined up in terms of objectives. I napped, read my magazine and chatted to friend. It’s now eleven and all i have this part blog post to show for it. Hi.
Happy Birthday Miguel! That was the line of the day. I repeated it often and made sure everyone knew it was true.
Today was the student presidential election day. Candidates said there manifestos and tried to convince the crowd of rowdy children to vote for them. Our grade was obviously biased, cheering for anything Miguel said. He didn’t even write a speech, preferring to go the spontaneous route. Continue reading
Today was one of those days where the balance of work and play tipped in the scale of having fun. Even when I did I have class, little work was done. A very chill and calming day, a stark contrast to the labors and stress of Wednesday.
Today I got a chance to visit the CD store near Miguel’s house. I think I might start slowly collecting physical music albums just made me want to buy them. I’m debating between Coldplay, Beyonce and David Guetta.
It always seems like Friday is the day of transition. A limbo where everyone sits and awaits the weekend.
After school we helped the Girl B Team train for basketball. It was then that Mr.Masters our P.E teacher announced that basketball training was being moved to Friday! I can finally go :D! YAY!
Today we went swimming. This is my second time to the people the entire summer. Blasmphemy, I know. I was with my friends Joel, John, Anthony, Bruno and Ivan. It was blazing hot there at the pool, I literally burned my feet. Joel, forgetting to bring trunks had to use my spare speedos. Ivan also had this case that let him use his iphone underwater. He can listen to music underwater and take photos :3. We also played Russian Roulette with my bb gun and picked up some bbq chicken wings at the nearby beach tourist traps.
On the way back from the pool John did a fair bit of trolling on the bus. Inspired by online sensation Janoskians, my friends and I decided cause a little bit of a ruckus. We kept randomly shouting. John toke it further, shooting people with a bb gun pistol and yelling insults at pass-a-byers. Once in Taipa, Bruno, Ivan and Anthony went home to their respective homes.
After we split up, we went to a local apartment complex called Nova City to play basketball. We ended up playing 2v3 with a man and his son, with me on their side to even the sides. You could say it was a bit of a grudge match (with Joel managing to hit his son with the basketball) and when the son stopped for a breath it was on. 2v2. The Father and me, and Joel and John. He then scored 4 points.. in a row. He was nice enough to pass to me before scoring. We then played a game called “Around the World.” Normally each player takes turns shooting, and if you score you can go again. The first person to make successful shots and advance around the court wins. This time however we used to train, allowing John to take as many shots as he needed to advance. When it was my turn, I managed to get four shots in a row :D.
After basketball we went to have Mcdonalds. I was so thirsty that in my attempt to drink the coke faster I spilled it. We sat there, having a good chat.
The most curious thing happened to me as I went home. Made me love Summer even more. A girl just randomly comes up (a pretty one) and starts talking to me! We got into a conversation, and she games a lot too XD. She exchanged phone numbers and added each other on Facebook. Hopefully, this a new chapter in the JackOfAllTrades.
