My Blogging Hiatus

I am going on a blogging hiatus, due to my upcoming mock exams for my A/s IGCSE examinations. Although I have not been posting daily content for about week now, I just thought I would make a official announcement  Going to update from time to time, but nothing too big, wanna focus on my studies ^^.

First Monday of the Christmas Holidays

Today I was supposed to go into full study mode. It didn’t happen.

Progress was good at first. I had gone through my everything notebooks (a side note, I was very lazy at the beginning of the year and thus have all my notes in one notebook which my studying horribly inefficient), as well as my past tests for math and ict. It was all going well until I moved onto my math notebook. A few pages in and I got horribly distracted. Darn you youtube, league of legends and T3!

Today is also my last day un-baptized. Tomorrow is a big day!

I went to the Christmas church service today. When I walked in the choir was in full-swing. They sounded angelic. Sadly, I slept through the majority of the rest of it :/.

A good friends birthday weekened

It’s getting chilly here in Macau. It was around 25-21 ºC during the week but today its 21-15 ºC. Brrrr. At least that means I can bring in the heavy weight winter clothes, but that sadly leaves me unable to wear hoodies to often again.

Today we celebrated my grandmother’s birthday by having a family lunch at Star World. It was at a fancy all you can eat dim sum restaurant. All my grandmother’s daughters and sons showed up to celebrate. My over-punctual aunt was calling everyone to get there, when she herself wasn’t there herself! She even researched what food she wanted the night before and ticked it out on a menu she had acquired. She even brought a pencil and eraser there -,-. Despite her constant nagging we had a good meal, chatting and eating ourselves silly. My aunt has a tendency to over order at these type of restaurants, just to make sure its worth the expense.

Later that day in the afternoon Joel and Nicole came over. We met up with even more people and picked up the pizzas. My friend Joel was having his sweet sixteen party and we needed to make sure he was well stocked :).

An Eventful Friday

Today we had a ceremony for our achievements in IGCSE. Everyone was crammed into the hall and called up one by one. We were suppose to have it last year, but things delayed it and it was moved to this year. Better late then never right? This theme plays a role later in the day.

Not to be boastful but I am a pretty good student. I got all A’s for my IGCSE and received a distinction award in the ICE category. To my surprise I was not called for the principal honor role, the requirement of which is for an aggregate of 85%. I tried to feel happy for my fellow students and not feel to let down but the feeling persisted. I kept contemplating if I had worked harder, or if there was so conspiracy behind it. I calculated my averages again and it always came up above 85% no matter how you do it. So I went to the management to have it checked out.

Turns out that they had deleted me off the list by accident. I was one of the top scoring students. It was hard for me to be more angry than relieved though. Later in the day I received my trophy and certificate.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday! The week is already half over!

My friend Miguel came back from Hong Kong and got me Pendulum’s In Silico:

I’ve wanted an album from them for a few years now and it felt enthralling to hold it in my hands. Still haven’t finished listening to Cold Play’s Mylo Xyloto completely, but I’ll soon be moving on to Deadmau5’s 4×4=12. I also moved my dads old Bose radio into my room, making it that much more homely-er. Giving up on learning 50 Cent’s My buddy, I don’t think its my type of rap and I won’t force myself to learn it. Here it is if your interested:

Tuesday

Today after school my friend Miguel and I where forced to attend a Parent-Student Association (PSA for short) meeting. I spent a few hours in Taipa loitering until the time of the meeting, joining a student council meeting and eating at a sushi parlor.

The meeting was a bit longer then it had to be. Apparently it was the bi-yearly meeting we had arrived for. We had thought it was a short meeting about the Media contest we had joined over summer. They were boring procedures such as bank statements, small speeches and nominations. We finally got it all out-of-the-way and proceeded to the awards. We did not win anything, resulting in a largely wasted evening. The lucky winners got ipad minis. I want an ipad mini. Meh.

Wednesday

My week is losing a bit momentum with yesterday’s meeting and today’s sluggishness. The combination of increasing exhaustion, over burdening and my mom’s suddenly more attractive Ipad has deterred my best efforts to be effective. RALLY!

This Weekend…(November 12&13)

Saturday

Today I went to have new glasses made, as well as get my eyes checked. My area has lots of specialist glass shops (almost an over saturation). We went to the glasses shop that my parents went to as young adults and have built up a solid relationship with.

They immediately deduced that I had again, broke my glasses through basketball. They offered to give me a temporary hinge for my lenses as the prepared me new ones. I then went for a quick vision test to see how badly my vision has worsened since the last time I had them checked (about a year ago). My eyesight was 25 degrees higher (not too much of an increase compared with last time). More worrying was my glare, or that’s how my mom translated it. It was now 75, with the real problems starting at 100 degrees. To avoid it, he said to not use screens, read books or watch TV in the dark. Health can be depressing sometimes.

Miraculously my lens fit exactly into a spare frame they had. Very lucky considering that my lenses were shaved to fit my last frame.

The rest of the day was spent preparing for and watching from and returning from the UFC fight.

Sunday

Today was a lazy Sunday. An unvoiced unanimous decision by the whole family to sit at home and do nothing. I toke the chance to do some work, start using my mole skine and mess around with my DSLR. I’ve learned to zoom better and how to use monochrome. One of my favorite shots from my expedition around the room.

I also started something called Shave Sunday, and Scrub Sunday. I know it sounds silly but it reminds me and motivates me to try to have a “clean” start to the week :).

End of Week Update: The First Week of School

On Wednsday things didn’t get much better. I had a total of two classes, one of which the teacher was tied up in another class. I still hadn’t bought my books as well. We ended up just watching movies, first “Think Like A Man” where a controversial book is released teaching woman how men think and turning the tables on us, than second “The Dictator” where an middle-eastern dictator experiences America for the first time. It was during our third movie “Super Bad” that Ms.Donna came in to tell us why the schedule was such a mess (seeing there was over half of us in free period).

We also got some time to play some basketball. Despite my random back pains I was able to play 2v2 with Liam, Joel and the new teacher. The teacher was just so good! Even with two people on him he just kept getting this clean, soundless shots.

On Thursday we started to having more consistent classes. I had 5/8 of my classes! There was enough free periods however to sneak in a viewing of “Battle Royale” which is a more gruesome, japanese version of hunger games. Battle Royale came first by the way. It was a good, interesting movie but was ruined by loud classmates and Liam’s inability to stop making fun of their accents (that joker!).

After school we went off to buy the books. The ones I needed where sold out, and needed to be ordered. Also bumped into Marilda there with her mom. Liam joked that Marilda pushed her down the stairs.

Friday, the end of the week! The first major event was chapel. Somehow, through too much enthusiasm, Joel and I ended up on the stage doing actions for some songs. Quite awkward.

We enjoyed a short round of cricket before going into free period. The schedule seems to be improving, with only 1 free period today. I was able to hit all the shots pitched to me by Saahil, but when the new P.E teacher pitched I was quite literally shut. down.

Math is getting a lot harder these days and I have a feeling that it isn’t going to be a cake walk from now on. It was during a long double period that I discovered from Soana that my Swatch watch was not only water proof but glows in the dark! It just made me love it even more.

The school week ended with a surprise birthday party for my friend Natasha. She arrived in white limo with her family, only to be ambushed by us! We had a buffet dinner at an african themed restaurant called the Afrikana. We had our own private hut with karaoke and drinks.

Joel and I, being the only people who live in Macau walked home from the party. After parting ways at the resevoir I decided to run home to compensate for the lack of exercise for that day. By that time it was almost midnight and it was beautifully tranquil. All I could hear was the quite pitter patter of my feet on hard, cold concrete. I turned heads, as I ran past. They most have thought I was going to mug them. Despite being in formal party clothes and my heaviest shoes I made it all the way home without stopping. It was a good way to build endurance (on a sidenote I had won the 800 metre a few years prior). I would later pay for this in the form of massive foot cramps as I attempted to sleep.

The Second School: A pause to daily updates

My friend Miguel came up with the brilliant Idea of simply updating the blog every few days.  A good change of pace.

Today we actually had class! 5/8 Classes were free for me but it was better than standing around doing nothing. importantly the schedule isn’t even permanent, and it seems he forgot to add english literature to schedule..yay.

More interesting was that I got to tag along to my friends photo shoot today! He did it in his friend John’s house. He had all these advanced flash things set up and a black background. I went there to learn a thing or two about photography but I spent more time trying to make Liam trying to laugh during the shoot. While photo whoring the flash from my camera kept setting of his lights. He politely asked me to stop. Also before we left I knocked over a wine glass while screaming “REMAREZ, GET ON THE ROFF.” Yeah I don’t think I left a good impression.

I would also to share a video Miguel found. It’s perfect because it combines The Shining which we watched recently (and made fun of Wendy the wife) as well as PSY our new favorite K-POP artist.

Day 33: Total Recall: Ruined By a persitant Grandma

Recently I reached 10 followers on WordPress. Hooray! Thank you for reading my random stuff :), it’s much appreciated.

Almost nothing happened today except that me, my bro and my pops went to see Total Recall. It was a mediocre, but not enjoyable. I really liked its mech robots and hover cars and the dystopian setting. It kinda pissed me off that someone was using their smart phone to check Facebook DURING the movie. My grandma also called me a total of three times during the movie (and at the worst part). She wouldn’t stop, calling my dad a few seconds later. Whats even more frustrating was that we had already told her we were in the movie before. Gosh. On a side note I saw Mondass with his girlfriend Charlie. Of to play League of Legends. Tata!
