Third Week of October! The End of the First Term+ Lusofonia

Today was the last day of the term. How time flies. 1 Down and 3 to go! To celebrate it was (free) dress down day and there were to be parties in the last two periods.

In math, a period before the party Mr.Brown our principal made a calm announcement. “There seems to be some smoke coming from the basement, please evacuate the building in an orderly fashion.” Our school hadn’t had a fire drill in four years so it was quiet startling. I thought it was a fire drill until I saw the police man and smelt the smoke. Continue reading

Thunderstorms with a chance of Pamphlet spam: Day 37 in a nutshell

Today I “volunteered” with my brother to help my mother and the church spread the word. Not the most interesting event but I must blog about it :).

Our churches strategy was quite broad. We had multiple pamphlets and booklets, as well as events to encourage teenagers such as games and concerts. Today, I was put in charge of handing out pamphlets. Having poor chinese skills and being sleepy, I decided to simply to put booklets in people’s mailboxes. Here in Macau, Mailboxes are slits in the door of an apartment entrance like in this picture that I borrowed from google.

I started this strategy by filling up the mailboxes in my own building, skipping our’s of course. To me it seemed like the best course of action, as people can read it on their own terms and our more likely to not throw it away. At church, I would make constant trips back and forth from the church to resupply, filling the surrounding buildings with Pamplets. I must have done at least a hundred (over 9000!).

After handing stuff out for about half an hour, it was time for lunch. I have a special misfortune where people give me stuff they don’t wanna it. Because of this, I got stuffed, and passed out on a bean bag in the children room.

Then it was time to visit an elderly home filled predominantly with males. Despite heavy rain, we were determined to get there. Whilst there, we sang, played some games and spread the word to the elderly. We used some bracelets to convey our message Yellow (the light), Black (sin), Red(the blood of Jesus), White (wash away the scene) and Green (the promise land).

I also finally got mail informing me something was in my P.O Box. Always lovely to have mail. Today’s topic might be a bit touchy, but hopefully you enjoyed reading it.

Day 31: The Turnaround

Some time after writing the last post I decided if im going to sit around all day, I might as well do it clean. I went to take a shower.  It toke me an hour. Wait, wait I can explain.

Halfway through undressing I discovered that I hadn’t cut my nails in a century. After making my nails look a crack addicts, I spent the next few moments talking to myself to the mirror. No, I’m not crazy, its scientifically proven to relieve stress and get out ideas! Which is exactly what happened.

Afterwards I decided to learn Tyler the Creators Rap in the song Rella. I don’t know why specifically, but probably because he’s a centaur in the music video and it was the best:

Then I watched a movie called Ninja Scroll. ‘Twas a good anime flick. Crazy, outrageous villans, a goody-goody protagonist and of course a love story. It’s easy to find a video of it online, and they even have an english dub. However, as with all foreign movies, I suggest the orignal language with subtitles to show the orignal feel of the characters.

Day 16: Movie Marathon

***My internet crashed yestarday, and I was unable to write about the rest of day 15 at night. Not much happened, I just gamed for the rest of the afternoon.***

Today I’m going out to watch the Amazing Spiderman and the Dark Knight Rises! That will take up the majority of the day, but its the first time im going out in awhile. I also got an areana shooter called Nexuiz today. It doesn’t count as me purchasing the game, because my mother loaded my steam account with money (its kinda like itunes), so my streak of not buying games is not interupted.

Update you guys later 🙂

Rest of day 14

The rest of my day was spent at home accomplishing many things which are too numerous to write in detail. I am currently under the influence of a splitting headache, due to a beer.

  • Posted more on the blog (photos) and tried to get more accustomed with the interface.
  • Played Limbo, League of Legends and Killing Floor
  • Watched Fringe
  • Played with Source Filmmaker
  • Submitted an idea for a champion in League of Legends
  • Organized my internet favorites

Day 14: The 2 Week Mark

Last night, I stayed up till four in the morning finishing my first novel of the summer. The name of the book was called “Dawn of War Blood Ravens: The Dawn of War Omnibus” which is based on a game, which in turn is based on a tabletop game known as Warhammer 40K. It was quite a good book, heavily tied in with the story line of the Dawn of War Franchise and I enjoyed it a lot due to my fascination with the 40K universe. Quite coincidental that I found this link that you might enjoy, showing off the miniatures that inspired the series: http://kotaku.com/5926915/warhammer-miniatures-come-to-life-in-these-amazing-photos

After sleeping for a mere four hours, my mom awoke me to have breakfast with my cousins. I had gotten leg cramps before reaching there, and was irritable for the entire ordeal. Afterwards they came to my house, were I promptly napped before taking them to the ferry station.

Lazy Sunday – Family Day (11)

Morning Pop art

This morning, after church my cousins and I went to have lunch. Nothing really special, but they had some nice pop art.

Home theatre renovation

After lunch we went to an electronics centre to pick up a Blu-ray player and some fans for the house. The Blu-ray player is part of our project to renovate our home theatre system. It’s made by Pioneer.

The new fans just make life more bearable here (30° centigrade), and are so effective we don’t even need to use the air conditioner!

Finally got my dad’s old watch fixed and got house keys! So there’s that.

My dad and I also spent some of the afternoon getting rid of some stuff in the living room. Including our old DVD player, a red ring of death Xbox and miles of wires.

Our Video Project

Today is the last day before we must hand in our video project. To our horror, we discovered that some serious competition had entered the competition. Lets hope our wits get us through.

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind

I also managed to finish a manga series called “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.” It’s about how humanity’s greed destroys the world as they tamper with life. A poisonous forest known as the “Sea of Corruption”, home to giant insects, dominants the remaining land. Great themes, characters, setting, really fleshed out world, and pretty action packed. One of Hayao Miyazaki’s masterpieces.

Final Thoughts

The rest of the evening was dinner, walking at a reservoir and playing Tribes Ascend and League of Legends.

Do you guys like the new text formatting I used in the previous post and this one? I would also like to know if you would like updates throughout the day, or a summary like this.

Good Morning, Afternoon or Evening to you all.

Thanks for reading!

Day 10: Grinding to a close

Volunteer Work

The kid class was largly uneventful. I came in earlier then the woman that asked for my help. We were suppose to teach them a dance, but only three arrived, so instead we did a project were the kids built a castle.

Video Project

Today was the last day of filming and I was grateful because the orange we were using to fil was starting to rot, and i was wearing the exact same clothes for four days straight and I was starting to smell, despite the abnormal amount of deodarant i was using on it. We finished by filming Miguel turning back into a human (he was the orange) at school. To do so, we needed a scene of the orange falling. After a few failed catches, we discovered something. The orange was a GRAPEFRUIT. Guess we don’t know our fruits. Hopefully we can win those Ipads, but even if we didn’t I had a good time filming.

Socializing with the community

On the way home, something very interesting happened. Two tourists asked me for directions. Normally this isn’t too special, but read on. They were trying to get to a restruant named “Fernando’s” but were on the completly on the wrong island. Instead of just telling them they were in the wrong place, I offered to take them to a restruant by my house (which I really felt good about later on). On the way there I learnt more about them. Denese was a Canadian from St.Something island and lived in Hk and traveled thw world. Milean was a Fillipino staying with her family. Then in the lift I had a discussion with a lady about her dog species, which she said was very clean and well behaved. I felt so sociable all of a sudden :P!

Team Fortress 2 Match

Later that evening I had a team fortress 2 match with my brother’s clan. (On a side note, my brother has been recieving gifts prior to his birthday. He got 50 dollars on steam and in-game points in League of legends. Lucky). We lost pretty badly as always, but it was good fun.

Plans for tommorow

Going to church, and then a day out with family.

Good Morning, Afternoon and Evening to you all!

Thanks for reading!
